Hi,  Name is Jim, I live in central Iowa and I am starting my midlife crisis.  So as any good man should do, I will build me a smoker.  My smoking experience to date has been on my gas Weber grill.  After some experimenting things have been pretty good but just not what I really want.

So, I am starting a build utilizing a 5' x 3' x 3' stainless insulated warming box I bought out of a restaurant.  Seems like the perfect box but I have never done this before and that is why I have watched and joined this forum.  I will need some help and I want to do this little project right.  Thanks to everyone who helps me in advance.  Any pointer to start out with is alway appreciated.

Welcome JKoch.

I had one of those once and sold it . I never thought to make a smoker out of it. I don't have any advice, but I would approach it as where could I put my firebox first. I don't know if that is correct advice. Just my two cents. Good luck with the build and by the way post pics along the way. There are plenty of people here to help you.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do. There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Just a teeny bit of information for some of the rules here at SMF before you get started, off site links are not allowed.
