Hi all,
After enjoying cooking on my UDS for the past two plus years I ave decided to build a horizontal reverse flow on a trailer. I am only at the planning stage and have begun to sketch it out. I have gained access to a 30" x 72" pipe that will be the CC. I have used the Feldon calculator and the circle calculator to gain some measurements I will need. I have searched through a ton of past threads but not able to locate any discussions regarding door position. I have seen it discussed but I was looking for other things and didn't take note of the thread I found it in. I didn't think it was that big of a deal until I started to draw it out. The top of one of the doors will be affected by the stack. The bottom of both doors will be affected by the lower cooking grate which is affected by the FF to CC opening size and RF plate height and so on and so on.....
I do remember reading about the bottom of the door being important due to the possibility of grease/moisture leaking out and down the outside of the CC. I think they used clock references, ie. 12 o clock to 3 o clock. Is there a rule of thumb in regards to location of the top and bottom of the door? Is the top of the door significant when it comes to ease of opening? is the bottom of the door significant at all?
These are just some of the question I have. I am still researching and attempting to locate answers to others I have prior to bringing it to you guys. I have been reading this forum since I started my UDS build two summers ago. I can imagine you get tired of answering the same questions over and over. So I will do my due diligence on regards to locating answers for myself. I may come to you all for confirmation of the information I find.
Please let me know what you think
Thanks,
Scott
