I am getting spammy looking pop ups telling me to update my browser.

Only on this site?

I use Firefox.

Anybody else getting these?

Good luck and good smoking.

I don't Venture, but I have the Premier membership so I turned off the adds..... Not sure if that's anything to do with it ! I have an iPad with Safari !

Glad most of you aren't getting them.

It doesn't look like something SMF would do.

I can see where it might only be aimed at Firefox users.

Not the type of thing I would ever click on.  Firefox has a site if I ever suspect a problem with my browser.

Thinking some slime out there might have corrupted this site?

Good luck and good smoking.

I use Firefox also, currently @ version 30.0, and I have no issues at all.  I'm not getting pop-ups, or ads, or anything.  I use Adblock Plus to filter out everything I don't want.  Currently I am using the Adblock filter subscription for "Easylist", and that knocks out most things.  I also have almost all Google scripts blocked with it, including Anylitics, which is what tracks you for Google.  I'd also suggest "Track Me Not" plug in, although it has to be disabled for some sites.

I abandoned IE back in the 90's in the early days when many sites were optimized for the old Netscape Navigator.  Later IE had all sorts of security problems. They say that is fixed now?  I still reflexively avoid IE. Protection software is in place, updated, and fully activated.

Chrome is Google, and I use Google sparingly or thru a proxy.

My problems seem to have gone away for now?

Time will tell me more.  I still think it was something malicious that might have infiltrated the site, even if only temporarily. It just wasn't the kind of marketing tactic that SMF would allow.

It was obviously Firefox oriented, but Firefox doesn't do that chit themselves.  Their logo is easy to duplicate.

Only happened on this site, so that is why I asked the members?

If I see more, I will update.

Meanwhile, thanks to all for your feedback.

Good luck and good smoking.

I'm with you on Google and Chrome.  Chrome tracks EVERYTHING and EVERY SITE you go to.

If you want an excellent substitute for Google search try IXQuick.com,  You will get everything that Google would show you, except they do it all through hidden proxies.  NO tracking at all.  It's served out of The Netherlands, where they have a little more "latitude" for hiding things (IP's...etc).

If you are using chrome, go to google play and download the AdBlock Extension for Chrome and it will block that stuff. Also, check to be sure you didn't wind up with a malicious extension installed. Click on the 3 horizontal line in the right corner of the browser frame, click on settings and then extensions and look through those for anything that might be bad. If you have any specific question, feel free to PM.
