Glad to have you all here. I will be looking at sites for the gathering this month and will update soon.

Glad to have you - check out the CA BBQ events thread.

Welcome guys - I too am a home roaster.

There is on in Vista coming up on 8-4, but I believe Aaron was talking about the one in Dana Point on 9-29.  There is also one in Westminster on 8-11.  I'll be judging ALL 3 events.

There is also a local backyarder in Ontario on 8-11.  Not an official KCBS comp, but a good little backyarder being judged by CBJ's.   Info is on the website at http://www.socalmeatup.com

I will be hosting a get together after the Vista event - let me know if anyone wants to join us

We will be competing at Vista next weekend - August 4 and at Dana Point.  We're going to miss Westminster though.

Welcome to the group

Thanks for the link Scarbelly!  Didn't realize this was here.  I've been smoking only for about six years or so I guess.  A christmas present from my mother one year was a gas-powered turkey fryer from QVC.  She was addicted to that place.  Wasn't something I really wanted to get into so I traded it for a MES30.  After struggling with that little device when doing large smokes for work, I broke down and purchased a Cookshack Amerique.  That thing is a dream to cook in, and has been a great time making brisket, bacon and back bacon,  Pork Butts, Ribs, wings, cheese and more for the last year and a half now I've had it.  I get it's not a wood or charcoal fired beast like some have, but it's hassle free and consistant with less fuss than even the MES was, and clean-up is a snap.  Anyways, just a backyard guy without competition aspirations, just making sure I can feed a group of 50+ at work a few times a year, and the family the rest of the time.
