Just registered. I live just north of Ft. Lauderdale and stumbled onto this website while researching my latest obsession. My neighbor turned me on to smoking food about a year ago when he lent me one of his Weber Smokey Mountain Smokers (his backyard contains all sorts of grills, smokers, and other meat cooking devices that I've never heard of) for a party I was having. I kept the smoker about a year, doing the occasional pork butt, turkey, chicken... until I had to return it to him so he could use it for a competition. The competition turned out to be some qualifier for a Jack Daniels meat smoking comptetion in Lynchburg, TN and he asked me to be a part of his team. Turns out, that meant that I had to keep the utensils, smokers and cooking area clean, but I was hooked by the spirit and fun I'd had! Today, I have my own Weber Smokey Mountain (about a month old) and a Weber Silver Series gas grill and I am totally obsessed to the point that I wonder how everything my wife brings home from the grocery store will taste after being on the smoker for a while. I also wouldn't doubt that our cat worries that if he moves too slow, he might wind up in the smoky mountain for the afternoon too. Of course, I wouldn't do that, not without the proper mop and rub anyway! Just Kidding!
