Howdy folks!

I am one happy guy. On Saturday my wonderful wife surprised me with a smoker for Christmas. While I spend a lot of time cooking so many great dishes on my gas grill, from beer can chicken to shish-ka-bob to smoked ribs, my wife realized that I needed a smoker to take my brisket, butt and ribs to the next level.

Fortunately I am a patient man so I know this will work out great!

I am very excited to join your forum and meat (pun intended) you all!

Help me get started, will you? I was given a Smoke Hollow model #30169G, 30" propane gas smoker. She tells me that she did research and thought a propane model would suit me well especially if I wanted a nap during a "smoke." Is this a good beginner model for an ambitious but talented cook?

I can't wait to get started and look forward to learning from you all....

Welcome to SMF glad you joined us. Congrats on the new smoker. Have fun and happy smoking

Looks great!  Congrats & welcome to the family!  Smoking w/ propane is cake, so don't sweat it.  I've used coals, electric, hardwood, & propane -- propane is probably the easiest along w/ electric because temps are easy to maintain.  Cheers, & don't forget the Q-view after you season that puppy!

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Welcome to SMF & congrats on the Christmas present. Look forward to seeing some Q-view in the future.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new smoker!  You'll get started easy enough with the propane smoker.  When you do your seasoning burn it'll give you an opportunity to mess with the temp settings etc.  You may also want to take temps from each rack to learn where your particular smoker is hottest etc.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to post them.

Happy Smokin'!
