So Call Smokers Get together time and location

I am starting to look at places and dates for a group gathering

I was told about what looks to be a great place for a gathering in Idyllwild at a Thousand Trails Campground that just opened to the public. The not only have campsites but they also have a group picnic area and cabins for rent. I am thinking of trying to do this one weekend in early June to avoid the rush. 

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any other locations? Even if we only do the event for a day it would allow folks a place to stay and not have to drive

I don't know this camp site but no Idylwild very nice and lust area, I would love to come I now I am a newbe. but loveeee good food

I mentioned in the other post - Lake Skinner is nice.  Inexpensive.  Lots of room and family and BBQ friendly.  It may be tough to get them to let us light up a bunch of smokers up in Idylwild because of the fire danger.

Should we start a thread on So Cal competitions coming up so we can inform the So Cal masses?

I have camped at Skinner and it is real nice. Once they put in the Water Park the rates for summer went up and the sites are hard to get. I will give them a call though.  I have been busy with the Pizza oven all this week and hope to start looking again next week

The summer rates are higher but with something for the kids to do - it could be a better way to get the wives to approve of our "outing"!

How about up on Palomar Mountain campground! Pines, plenty of room and COOLER in the summer!
