Smoking some leg quarters on the Akorn! QView

  1. Bought a 10 lb bag of quarters and brined them in saltwater, some garlic, 3 bay leaves, and some lemon juice. Seasoned with SPOG, paprika, and a little sugar. Gonna smoke around 290-300 and see what happens.

    I will be doing the very same thing this saturday afternoon only at 230 degrees....very good choice
     
  3. Temp jumped up to 340 on me. Hoping I can get it back down before disaster strikes haha. Live and learn. At least I'll only be out 6 bucks if it goes south. Will post QView regardless
     
  4. Got an internal temp over 160. Hoping it isn't plywood dry. Skin shriveled up but tastes pretty good.

    Those look really good. [​IMG]  . Yeah, the Skin was shriveled -up , but you are your own toughest Critic. Ifit tasted good, it's all good...[​IMG]

    Remember,practice makes perfect...have fun and as always . ..
     
  6. Thanks oldschool! Definitely going with a lower temp next time, but I was not disappointed with the taste. Never satisfied though. It can always get better.

    They look good to me, the higher temp probably helped get the skin crispier.
