Smoking Sirloin Tip Roast from the Newsletter Today - Updated w Qview

    I'm going to use the newsletter recipe for Smoked Sirloin Tip.  Working from home today so I figured I could run this while I work, and update this thread as I go.

    The local supermarket chain had BOGO sirloin tip roasts, works out to about $2.99/lb when you buy 2.

    These both happened to be 2.01lbs.  Seasoned with lots of fresh ground black pepper and kosher salt, and then my own rub

    Technical difficulties!!  We just ran out of propane for the Masterbuilt Dual!!

    Not to fear, set the Weber up with charcoal in the snake method.  Waiting for it to be ready.

    Ok, so life got in the way, but I wanted to finish this thread to only say how amazing this turned out.  I highly recommend everyone gives it a shot.  The sirloin tip finished with the most amazing flavor and it melted in your mouth life butter.  I went out and bought 2 more roasts last night while they were still on sale so that we could do this one again soon!

    Here's the roasts just at about 125 degrees internal:


    Dumped a hot chimney of charcoal into the Weber and did the reverse sear.  Here is the after shot with.  Nice sear on the roasts and the meat is a lot rarer than the pic appears.  It was a nice, tender medium rare


    The family all gave it raving reviews with the teenage boy asking what kind of steak it was and when am I making it again.  If you were thinking about doing this one, I highly recommend it!
