Hey there,

I was wondering if I could throw some salmon in my smoker with my ribs.  My ribs will be in for 5 hours.  I was wondering if it would harm the flavor of my ribs to through in some salmon for the last 45 minutes.  My wife wants my smoked salmon, while I am smoking baby backs for everyone else.  Doing this in two days, so quick answers appreciated.  Thanks a bunch.

Hmmmm, I've never done it but wouldn't hesitate to try given the way I hot smoke fish.  When I hot smoke salmon fillets I always put them skin side down in either a disposable aluminum roaster or a double layer HD aluminum foil boat so I don't get any fish drippings in my smoker.  Just put the fish closer to the air flow exhaust than the BBs.

45 minutes seems pretty quick.  At 225-250F I usually hot smoke salmon fillets for about 2 hours.

Thanks for the reply. Think we are going to skip the salmon.
