Smoking a Turkey for 2 different dinners

    So, my family's thanksgiving is going to be this thursday and my wife's parents is going to be friday.

    I plan on smoking an 8lb boneless, skinless turkey breast for both families.

    My question is, can i cut the breast in half and do two different smokes with them so that i'm not just bringing leftovers to my wife's parents house on Friday?

    If not, is there a best way to prepare the turkey to re-heat for day two?

    I suggest two turkeys. But that is just me. My family can put an eight pounder down in one day. lol

    I'd do 2 smokes. It doesn't take that long and I think its worth it. But you can reheat the turkey for the second day, I've done it for big parties and it'll be good.  I'd still do 2. I've done it before. its a lot of work but soooooooo worth it. And the smoking is part of the fun!!!!

    Turkey breasts don't take long to smoke so I would have to say two smokes and two turkeys. Try something different with each one maybe.

    Cincyjames , hello. Sounds as if budget is a factor... cut it in half and do the smoking in one day , then slice , vac - pac and boil to heat. No , Vac. , then slice , wrap in

    foil and take gravy with you and heat in a pan with the gravy...

    Turkey is very flexible , you could also leave in the foil and place in a 225*F  oven on arrival ,and go to 165*f , take your therm. with you... you'll be a hero.

    I usually only smoke whole turkeys..in the 11-13# range.

    I'd personally smoke 2 at once...double foil wrap them both...let rest...

    Put the 2nd one up in the fridge til needed...

    I reheat on the carcass...2 hours @ 250...usually gets it just warm again- not hot...

    I also think you'll find that by smoking it, the flavor is so much better that others will eat, & eat & eat on it...

    Somehow I'm not sure that breast would survive very long...lol

    Just my couple of thoughts...

    Hey, guys thanks so much for all the tips.

    On an unrelated note, has anyone tried sealing their door area with RTV sealant? It won't be in the actual smoking chamber, I just wanted to keep so much smoke from escaping through the gap between the door and smoker.

    Clean the surface for the HIGH temp. RTV very well. Aply RTV. Place waxed paper over RTV. Close door let RTV cure. Open door and remove waxed paper.
