I'm smoking a bird again this year but doing it a little different than in the past. I'm taking pics during the process so I'll post all that when I'm done. Gotta say, TBS is a beautiful thing!

Remember to give thanks to all the men and women serving today, in all capacities.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Greg

Ok, so it's Friday, I'm at work, I've recovered from a food coma and ready to show off my bird...

I took a page from some other posters on the forum and tried to get as many pics of the progress as I could. Any advice you can offer is greatly welcomed! Enjoy the pics!!

Thin Blue Smoke look ok?

Prepped and ready...

Hung in the smoker by coat hangers

2 hrs into the smoke

 getting a bacon shower

carved and ready to eat

Everything came out perfect and I even got a compliment from my girlfriend's grandma who doesn't like smoked meats!

Hope everyone else had a great turkey day!

Greg, morning.... The bacon shower is a great idea....  I like it..... I think I will use it.....     Dave

Dave, morning to you...I tried the chicken last week with the bacon directly on it and it didn't allow the skin to crisp up or really even get smoky. I had to get creative since I knew I'd be suspending the turkey and came up with the bacon shower. My girlfriend did a beautiful bacon weave, like for a fatty, and we just let the bacon smoke for about the last hour and it came out perfect!

Enjoy!
