Hi All! I got hooked last summer when I decided I wanted to BBQ some ribs for the 4th. I asked around to get suggestions on how to make them. It quickly became clear that I should smoke them on my weber using the half charcoal/half water bowl technique. Holy moly those were tasty ribs!
After that I went and picked up an ECB (el cheapo brinkmann for newbs like me) and started reading these forums and modified it a bit based on a lot of posts on this forum. I'm not really new to the forums, just to posting in them. :) I live in Seattle and LOVE the Q!

ECB Mods:
- Added real thermometer (I think it was char broil brand that that mounted through a hole in the lid)
- Covered up the hole in the bottom pan with a piece of aluminum that could open and close
- Added vents to the side of the bottom pan and installed a weber-brand circular vent cover
- Not really a mod, but I've been using the minion method for the charcoal
- And definitely filling the gap around the lid with foil

A couple weeks ago I decided to move up to a horizontal style and bought a Char Griller Super Pro and side firebox from lowes. I'm thinking about modding it to work with pellets like the Traeger...we'll see. If anyone has ideas send them my way. :)

A bit of a long intro, but I really appreciate all the info I've been about to get from this forum over the last year!!

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join in. Congrats on the new smoker. Check out the charcoal smoker section and I'm sure you'll see lots of good mods for the new smoker.

welcome, lots of good mods for that smoker in the charcoal smokers section.

Greetings and nice to meet you. Looks like your off to a good start and found the right place.

Welcome from another Seattlite. Not a lot of good BBQ up here so you gotta do it yourself. Enjoy the site and good luck with the upcoming smokes.
