Smokin' in Phoenix, Arizona

  1. hey what's up everyone?  I just joined this site this morning as I received a Smokey Mountain propane smoker for Christmas from my girlfriend.  I'm 27 years old and consider myself an above average cook/griller that is adventurous to try new things and perfect certain dishes.

My only smoking meat experience has been to use indirect heat on my grill and put wood chips in aluminum foil while I was slow cooking some ribs.  I am excited to try smoking a brisket, prime rib and pork butt.

Can you guys please link me to the juicest smoked brisket receipe you know?   I am hosting a superbowl party for some of my friends this year and want to impress everyone with juicy smoked brisket and rolls with just a hint of BBQ sauce.

    Thanks,

    Durango155

  5. thanks guys, can anyone recommend me a good thermometer to monitor my foods in my smoker...all I have right now is a digital probe one that I have used for prime rib and stuff inside but now I think I want one that stays in the meat while it's cooking.

    thanks,

[IMG]  to SMF....the handy dandy search bar will bring up all kinds of ideas for recipes and such, these guys love to share ideas. As far as a good thermometer, I like the Maverick et-732.  Has two probes and temp alarms that you can program to the wireless remote, they go out to about 250-300 feet before loosing signal. Nice if you want to do something else other than staring at a smoking box.[IMG]

Hello and welcome to the best meat forum on the Web

  12. I like thermometers from Thermoworks.  It's not wireless, but it is inexpensive, replacement probes are available, and it's backed by Thermoworks: http://thermoworks.com/products/alarm/oven_temp_timer.html

None of their stuff has ever failed me.  Many other brands have failed - in fact every other brand I've tried has failed. Grab a Thermapen while you're at it.  Pricey but worth it.
