I'm putting together the bits and pieces for my wsm-mini build.  I have a question for any who grills on the smokey joe gold.  I've read that they don't burn as well as the reg. sj, with the lid on.  I'm gonna use my for both and think the sj gold would be better for the mini build.  Any opinions or advice is welcome.

You will get many opnions, I prefer the gold a smoker.  The vents are on the side of the grill, no worries about ash plugging the vents.  Easy to control temps with 2 vents rather than just one.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as far as the mini build goes,  But I'm not sure how good the gold are as a grill.  Which ever sj I get, will be my camping grill to use during fire bans.  Charcoal grills are still allowed but they must have a lid, and I've read the sj gold don't work well with their lid on.  I'm hoping some one here has some experience grilling on the sj gold.  Thanks for your post, all opinions welcome.
