  1. Hello everyone, thank you for a great site. A little info about myself, I live up here in the cold country in Maine so it's not the greatest area to run a pit but what can I say I'm hooked. I started out on a set it and forget it Masterbuilt electric and was getting good cooks and compliments from friends. Now I want to take the next step and try my luck with a stick pit. At least being here in Maine I have alot of experience running a firebox to keep warm so that should help in the learning curve. I've been doing all the usual research for a newb on which pit to buy and everyone has opinions on what to get which I'm sure I'll be tapping into this vast knowledge base, so thanks for any help I can get with this journey. As of now the 2 on my list are the Yoda witchita, or Lang 48, yea I know alot of bucks to invest but at least I cant blame the pit for my mistakes. Right now I'm still filling the piggy bank hopefully I'll bust that thing open and pull the trigger on a good investment soon, in the mean time its research and dreaming.

Welcome to SMF PMwanab!  Glad you are here and dreaming about the possibilities.  Which to choose?  I think you'd be happy with either the Yoder or the Lang.  Both are well built smokers.

Heck, in the meantime while you're saving the pennies, why not make a cinder or cement block pit?  For a few bucks you could make a square or round pit in a few hours and be serving up some great grub to your friends.  With your firebox skills seems like a natural progression.

    Whatever you choose, have fun!
  3. Thanks for the welcome, my name in Brian and I live in southern Maine. I never thought about building a block pit for now thats a great idea. Guess I'll start looking up plans, thanks again for a great idea.
