Just finishing a propane smoker from an aluminium steamer trunk originally used when my in laws moved to Canada from Switzerland in the 1950's. Thought it would be a nice repurposing, a tribute to the in laws and make SWMBO happy. #1 son calls it the Tardis. At 40 x 24 x 16 plus insulation plus carcass, it is getting a little hefty. Sure gonna give more room than the ancient Centro (MES 30 clone?) we're using now. Got a TA4 pid, safety valve with thermocouple and soleniod to control it. Using an AMNPS for smoke. Now I should be able to hot smoke, cold smoke or use as a spare oven for family gatherings. This site had the only good instructions for the pid. The recipes, guidelines, info and resources were a lot of fun while lurking.

I'll post pictures if this thing ever works. Pressure test was good though, so there's hope! Fun project for a retired engineer.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a wet and soggy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Let's see some pics
