Smoker from an aluminium steamer trunk

  1. Just finishing a propane smoker from an aluminium steamer trunk originally used when my in laws moved to Canada from Switzerland in the 1950's. Thought it would be a nice repurposing, a tribute to the in laws and make SWMBO happy. #1 son calls it the Tardis. At 40 x 24 x 16 plus insulation plus carcass, it is getting a little hefty. Sure gonna give more room than the ancient Centro (MES 30 clone?) we're using now. Got a TA4 pid, safety valve with thermocouple and soleniod to control it. Using an AMNPS for smoke. Now I should be able to hot smoke, cold smoke or use as a spare oven for family gatherings. This site had the only good instructions for the pid. The recipes, guidelines, info and resources were a lot of fun while lurking.

I'll post pictures if this thing ever works. Pressure test was good though, so there's hope! Fun project for a retired engineer.

    Let's see some pics
