I took my in progress trailer rig to get sand blasted the other day.  While chatting with the folks there on how I was planning on painting it, he mentioned something about just using veggy oil on the bare metal and thats it.  He said once it gets baked on, its as good as paint and will start to darken the metal after a while.  Has anyone heard of this and does it really work?  It might be kinda cool to do that to the firebox since paint doesn't last long on it anyway.  Get it all polished up and oil it down.

I think I like that idea!

I at least like it enough I will try it on my next build. Who knows when that will be since I keep getting slammed at work.

I am going to try it on the firebox.  Since it will be bare metal, I may have to get the sander out and do scale art on it or something.  This could be fun.  Now if the rain would ever stop so my rig can get blasted!!!!!!!!!!
