    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with building a plywood smoker enclosure? This winter has been especially harsh here in the Midwest, and I am thinking a vented plywood box around my Masterbuilt Dual Fuel would help it hold temperature. Unlike my old electric unit, the walls of this smoker are not insulated.

I am fairly handy, just wondering if anyone might have some pointers.

Thanks in advance, and stay warm!

  2. Hello Jeff.  Welcome.  I see this is your first post.  Please take some time and swing over to Roll Call and introduce yourself so that we may give you a proper "Hello".  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  As for your question:  I haven't built an enclosure but your idea sounds like it should work.  I see no problems so long as the smoker gets some air flow through it.  Keep Smokin!

Hi Jeff.  I like your idea...Back when I used an uninsulated GOSM all the time, I used to set up a crude wind break around it with a couple sheets of plywood.  I don't see why building something a little more sturdy wouldn't work great, as long as it was properly vented.
