Salad? That's what food eats!

But if you like salads (I do) this might seem like a weird one but it actually turned out pretty good. Put your favorite salad dressing in a shallow pan and throw it in the smoker for about an hour (I used apple wood). It gives a nice kick to your dressing.

Sounds like a great idea!

We eat a lot of salads around here & the next time I fire up the smoker, there will be a pan of salad dressing in it too.

Thanks for the idea.

I have never tried smoking premade foods before, besides cheese.  I should give it a try.

I do like smoking vegetables and making your own vinaigrette/dressing, the taste is awesome.  It works great with tomatoes, onion, garlic and carrots.

The salad dressing in the picture is home made. It goes really well with the smoky flavour. Here's the recipe:

1 cup sunflower oil;

1/2 cup lemon juice;

2 tbsp tamari;

1/3 cup nutritional yeast;

1/4 tsp garlic powder;

1/4 tsp dried basil;

pinch salt and pepper

(Blend until...blended)

My bad for assuming!  Now I understand where the colour comes from.  I have never "played" with yeast before.

Thanks for the recipe.

I have smoked olive oil before.  If you make your own dressings from scratch smoked oil could be used in most dressings.

Thanks for the tip! I could probably just smoke the sunflower oil and keep it on hand for when I make this dressing.
