Hi, I'm a complete newbie to smoking, have a 4 shelf Bradley Digital smoker, and just smoked my first turkey. Sorry I can't post any pictures.

Everyone who came for diner dug in before I could find my camera.

I received rave reviews on the turkey, a 14lb bird. I used a recipe I found on line at Amazingribs.com called the "Ultimate Turkey" and made the gravy as listed in the recipe. I did not brine the bird, but used an injector with melted butter, in t he breast and thigh area.

I set the smoker to 320 F to preheat the box, and then put the seasoned turkey in about an hour later. I used a combination of apple and cherry bisquettes for the smoke.

After about 6-1/2 hours my turkey was done to 165 F. It had a fantastic dark brown smoke crust, with a nicely crisped skin.

The turkey got absolutely rave reviews from everyone, with even the leftovers my daughter took into work today creating a stampede to her office.

I love my Bradley Digital, can't wait to figure out what I'm going to do next.
