I think I'm going to package up some pulled pork, abt's, and maybe some other goodies to hand out as Christmas gifts this year. People hand out baked goods, this should be acceptable?

Oh, and if anyone has shipped via dry ice before, any tips are appreciated :)

Hey Laurel, if the shipment contains dry ice, the shipment is considered a "Hazardous Material Shipment", and would have to ship ground. Also   wet ice is not allowed for airline travel or shipping by UPS or Federal Express.   So maybe the self contained ice blocks for keeping you coolers cold would be a good alternative. I have yet to ship anything but I started looking into it a while back.

There's nothing my brother would like more for Christmas than good food. He's getting pulled pork and a Stufz! and if I'm feeling really generous, a pastrami or brisket.

Great info! I always do alot of baking for holiday gifts and that seems to be appreciated. Never thought of smoking! Great idea Laurel! I have received those little coolers with the dry ice from a seafood place and it was sent overnight.

How do the meat companies ship their wares? I think they must use some gel packs to accomplish it. I just got something in the mail about a month ago and it had a white freezer pack of some kind in it.

I ship about 60 pounds of my smoked salmon a month during the winter holiday season.

This is where I order my freezer packs.  These are GRAS listed and food safe.

If you have trouble calculating the size you need let me have a list of food, the weight of each food, and the starting temperature of the food when being shipped.  And whether you are using two day air or next day air and I will size them for you.

If you go to just they also sell the foam shipping boxes and other options.  This is a good company.

My wife always gives out home made lemon pound cakes to friends and family so this year we are adding a platter with an assortment of of smoked brisket, sausage, pork loin, beer can chicken and a pint of home made BBQ sauce. I already did four pork loins from Sam's this week and now working on the 2 briskets. Was a good reason to buy a slicer too. My early Christmas.
