Probably will throw one in the box if I have a few extras on hand. Like I said it produced a nice aroma with the smoke, but not really sure how much it changed the flavor. The thighs tasted awesome, so next time I make them, I'll be duplicating everything I did today.

Like I said earlier, I don't think it changes the flavor anything drastic, but the smell of the smoke is pleasantly different (not that the smell of peach wood in the firebox is bad). I've been changing up my rub and sauce (Jeff's), so it's hard to tell. Overall I can say I was very happy.

I saw this on a thread a while back about how people who are trying to sell their BBQ will throw in some onions to make the aroma really amazing. I saved some ends and threw them into my next smoke after reading that.

The ends were going into the garbage any way so why not throw them into the smoker...

I love those thighs but I can't do just thighs here because my wife and second daughter won't eat them. So, I always do whole birds and everyone gets to eat their favorite parts.

I think chicken has been may favorite thing to smoke so far.  Jerky was close but the moistness of the chicken was so enjoyable.

Looks awesome 5oclock, nice smoke for sure & that final plated shot..... I do believe I could have done some damage to that ! Very nice smoke ! Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the positive feedback gang. There is one thing I would have done differently....Smoke more than 1 pack of thighs!!! Hope everyone has a great (and smoke filled) Labor Day Weekend!!! (It just seems like last week I had my Memorial Weekend Smoke)

You're no t kiddin either.  I see you're from PA.  I'm rom NJ so we both needed a decent summer after that brutal winter we had. Let's hope this one wil be a little calmer.  FYI, aI've already heard it's gonna be worse than last ear.  How are we suposed t smoke inthe winter?  Is it safe to smoke in a detached garage with the doors open half way?

Oh don't say that.... Last year was my highest heating bill ever. I'll be smoking in the snow on my deck with some warm hard cider. A lot of people cover their pit with a welding blanket to keep up temps.

Gives you a perfect excuse to build a smoking shack, Like they do on Ice Fishing, A recliner, TV, Beer cooler and a smoker !!!   May be on to something.
