Gave my Pop a gallon bag about 2/3 full of pulled pork. We always meet on Thursdays to eat bbq at a local joint. He has raved about my pulled pork every time I've talked to him this week. Tonight he suggested mexican. He told me at the mexican joint that after having my "real" bbq this week he just couldn't bring himself to go eat the stuff they serve there. He said mine was way better than theirs is. He said my baby backs were some of the best he had ever had, too.

To have Pop rave about my cooking meant a lot to me because he is a life long connoisseur of pork bbq. I've eaten a lot of it right beside him and I know his tastes. I also know from past experience that he doesn't rave about much in the way of food regardless of who cooks it unless he truly likes it. When he does, it's something he really likes. Made me proud of my first true pulled pork and baby back success!!!

He even expressed interest in the new cooker I want. He was reserved about commenting on it until he tasted this weekend's meat. Now he is asking how much the Lang I told him about is. Looks like I may have some financial backing in the works to get something going once I spend some time gaining some real experience in bbq-ing. Unless something changes I'm planning on trying some sort of catering or roadside bbq business eventually. If he gets onboard it could happen sooner than later. I just want to get more experience before I sink anybody's funds into it on that level...

Anyway, sorry for the long rant. I'm just stoked over Pop's comments on my cooking!

Congrats... no finer achievment than you mention. And thank your lucky stars, as my father passed on while I was young. But I KNOW he's proud of my Q too!

I feel you... Lost my Mother. I can't stress enough to people who still have both their parents how important it is to spend as much time as you can with them. I'd have given all my earthly possessions if my Mother could have been there for the birth of my daughter 3.5 months ago. Like you, I know she's just as proud now of the baby girl as I am though.

LOL! Pop asked today when I was smokin' again. Said he has already ate the bag I gave him Tuesday. I think I've got him hooked!

Now, if I could hook maybe 150-200 regular customers that would buy meat by the pound every other week or so I'd be rollin'! I could call it bar-b-crack!
