This is the basic bread recipe...

1 1/4 cups of warm water
1 pkg of yeast
2 TBs oil
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 cups of flour (more if needed)
You can stop here and just make plain bread, It also makes great sandwiches.
For onion bread I add 1/2 tsp of onion powder and minced onions to the liquid before adding the flour. Regular minced onions work fine. In this batch I used 1 tsp of dried onion flakes..

Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, let it rise for an hour.
Punch down and put into baking pan. I press it to flatten so the sandwich will be bigger.
Oil the top and sprinkle with onions.
Let it rise another hour.

Bake in oven at 375 degrees for about 30 to 35 minutes OR in smoker...depending on your smoker, it will take longer. I rap the top of the bread and listen for a hollow sound. The bread should be baked through.

It's an easy to make bread.

curly, you ever use REAL onion in the bread? or just powder and flakes?

Brandsbay, it's about 1 TBs of yeast. Hope it works out well for you!

Girl - that's one FINE sanie!
I knew you'd put out the bread :)

For others, if you don't know, a pkt of yeast is 1/4 oz = 7 g = Scant 1 1/2 tsp of yeast from a jar (really 7g = 1.475 tsp). FYI.

THANKS that looks GREAT and I'll be makin it
