I had some for lunch and it was very good but the taters weren't smoked. It had chunks of baked potato with the skins on. I have only made smoked potatoes once and they didn't turn out that great, didn't smoke long enough though.

Anyway, I thought all day about making it. It would make your basic cream of potato soup with the smoked taters, and maybe some bits of smoked pork or bacon.

Anybody made this? If so how was it?

What do you think?

I smoke potatoes all the time. It takes a long time to impart much smoke flavor in them. I leave them in most of the time as long as my meat.

yup, smoke taters alot, the dots call them zippy fries, left overs end up soaps at times, IF there is any left.

You talked me into it. 3 bakers on now with my beer butt chicken.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Way to go Ron...and like mentioned above, they do take some time to cook and to get the smoke penetration. One thing I did learn is to poke some holes with a fork to let the steam out, or they can explode inside your rig (pretty messy)...been there once! LOL!!!

Enjoy, they are great!

Eric

Thanks just went out to poke the holes and they were done. Took them off, thanks.
