I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker and I need to do a 6lb and a 8lb bone in turkey breast together . I have never done 2 at once and was wondering about the cooking time. I use a meat  thermometer but would like to know a time frame for getting other food ready, if it is like doing 2 separate? , last one I did was close to 9lb and took about 8.5 hrs to hit 170deg. Thanks .Andy

Andy, welcome to the forum... and hope we can shed some light on your cook.

I for one do Poultry at higher temps. 300*F to 325*F , use a probe therm. (Mav.) and take it to 165*F and rest it (wrapped and in a cooler for 1-2hrs.)

Time for cook would be "Appox." 5to 6 hrs. Make sure the temp. in the meat of the Breast and Thigh are 165*F or above for doneness.

There will be more on later to advise , also...

Be sure to go by IMT and not time , as time is only a guide for your convenience .

Have fun and . . .

Thanks for the reply, I don't think my smoker goes that high, I was more concerned about how much extended the cooking time would be for 2 breasts over just doing 1 bone in breast. Thanks Andy

No extra time for the extra breast. Time will be different for both breasts though since the weight is different. Like Stan I do high temp smokes in poultry. The last breast I did, 9 pound was done in about 2 1/2 hours running at 325. I cook all my poultry to an IT of 165.

If you don't have two meat probes I'd probe the smaller breast. When it's done probe the larger breast it will take a bit longer. Wrap the first breast to finish in heavy foil, some towels and into a cooler it will hold nicely until the other is done.

If you can get your Masterbuilt up to 275, I'd say you'd have both done around 3- 3 1/2 hours. Make sure both rest at least 30mins before slicing.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I think it gets to about 245, the last turkey breast was about 9lb and it hit 170deg in about 8hrs. I will do as you suggest and probe the smaller, then foil it. Ill try and post the times and outcome on Monday. Thanks again Andy.

For both I let them on 7hrs at 235-240 cooked to 170 ,foiled, wrapped and coolered for 2hrs, they were hot and juicy when I sliced it. Thanks again for the tips!
