SMF's Dude Abides inspired stocking stuffer

Merry Christmas everyone.

When I started posting to the SMF, I met a lot of great people, and always thought that "The Dude Abides" was a peculiar user name. Then one day I was in a neighboring college town and saw a bumper sticker that said "The Dude Abides". What gives? I immediately came home and googled it to find out it was from a cult classic type of movie titled The Big Lebowski. I have had it in a TIVO wishlist for about 8 months and have never gotten to catch it.

Mrs. Engineer is big on Stocking Stuffer gifts, and look what she got me:


Now I finally get to watch it! Gonna curl up on the couch and enjoy a bowl of popcorn, while a pot of split pea and lentil soup is simmering away with a big ham bone left over from Easter. It is a good thing that I have something to watch on TV, because I don't feel like smoking today. Here is a picture of the Iron Maiden after the storm.

Yes I have seen the movie and it was good but why is the iron maiden still covered in snow again. I thought you would be in that 30% of smokers here that are smoking a rib roast too. Oh well I guess a bucket of popcorn and a good movie is just as good.

Great movie you got there, Dana. Watch it a couple times and you'll learn why it is a classic! Have fun watching it while it's cold and snowy outside...

I got a combo DVD of Kellly's Heroes and The Dirty Dozen. Can't wait to settle in with a movie myself!

HA! That's awesome. I've got to admit, the first time I watched it I didn't think much of it. Then second time around, I was hooked. It's a great movie. Great wife you've got there!

Went to Lebowskifest in Philly a few months ago, hoping they will have it again in 2010.
