Hey all, Im new to this, and just posted in the Roll Call.  Im having a small problem with my new smoker.  I took out the old wood pan and replaced it with the iron skillet.  Now, after about 30 minutes, the flame goes out.  Im thinking that maybe the weight of the skillet might be keeping out proper air flow.  As Im typing, I have it running with the skillet just off center about a half an inch, to allow some more air.  Anyone ever dealt with this?

  2. I set my cast iron pan up about 4" off the burner. Plenty of heat for the chips. So much so that they still end up burning and not smoking. I had to put them in a pouch inside the pan. I was running hot though at 350. Try raising it up a bit.. Also, I had wind problems and the flame would get blown out when at low levels so I need to come up with a solution for that problem as well. Hope this gives you some ideas..

  3. I have a Masterbuilt Pro also. I set a 8" cast iron skillet in the original tray and I get lots of smoke. I soak the chips for 30 minutes and fill the skillet to the top.
