Small Prime Rib

    It only going to be my wife and I this year for Easter.  I pick up a 3 lb prime rib and wanted to smoke it.  I did one around New Year and it was great but it was a lot larger.  About how long will it take for a small one like this at 225.  Or would a small one like this be better off in the oven?

  2. I smoked a 3.5 pound bottom round roast recently and that took about 4 hours at 225 degrees for an internal temp of 130 degrees. I'll never do a roast in the oven again after tasting a roast smoked with hickory.

    It should be about 45 minutes per pound give or take.
