Simple question for Grizzly 5# Vertical Stuffer owners...

  1. Is it easy to leave the crank handle off when storing the unit?

    If I get one, it will most likely get stored in the pantry when not in use, and I have to kind of plan for it before I buy it.  I know it has a relatively small footprint, when not including the handle, but I wasn't sure if you're supposed to leave the handle in-place when not in use.

    Kitchen appliance/gadget rule in my house:  If you bring a new one in, the old one - or something of comparable size/usage - has to be removed from the household.  (Stupid, big-city homes with no basements for hobby kitchens...pffft.) [​IMG]

    Based on the responses to my last post (and more research in the forums), I think I'm going to give in to peer pressure and invest in an entry-level vertical stuffer.  Tomorrow or Friday... may be the day.

    My household really liked the flavor of the Italian sausage I made, but the texture needed to be a little looser - a factor of the auger of the KA stuffer and my learning curve.  So many more recipes to try...

    I put the Piston all the way down then the stuffing tubes and handle go nicely into the cylinder. The small thumb screw goes in a snack size ziplock bag and in the cylinder too...JJ

    Lisa, morning and welcome to the forum..... 

    I disassemble my stuffer....  remove the piston so the o-ring is not compressed during storage, run the screw back into the stuffer body, remove the handle, put everything back in the original box in plastic bread sacks (new ones) to keep dust off etc.  And my C-clamps, in bags, fit in the box also... stuffer tubes, extra o-rings, food grade grease,  everything in bags in the original box...
