Silver Bullet Jacket For WSM + ATC?

Does anyone use the Silver Bullet Jacket? I was wondering if it would be possible to use the Ique 110 with it? I know that you can use the BBQ Gurus with it, but I wasn't sure about the dog bowl on the Ique. I will be dealing with a lot of wind, rain, and of course, snow. Any help is appreciated!

I dont have a blower, but I use a 6 ft. x 8 ft welding blanket and some hand clamps, you can adjust it as tight or as loose as you like to accomodate whatever blower you got. It insulates and blocks wind while still allowing good air flow, you can open just the top or just the bottome depending on what clamps you release..... and best of all it is only about $40 and folds up small for storage when not needed!

Just arrange the top so the vent isn't blocked off, and to access the meat remove the top clamps and roll it down like a banana till you can pull the lid.

I went ahead and bought the jacket, I like the idea that it was made specifically for that. How much did all of that run altogether?

I have read that some people had issues with other things melting to the WSM, have you had any issues?

Has it help temps well in the wind? In rain? In snow?

Does it help with fuel usage in the cold?

The welding blanket is good to something ridiculous like 1400 °F, and your smoker is only going to get up to a few hundred degrees at most, even on the bottom of the fire bowl. I haved used my WSM in temps as low as 28° with a steady wind (10-20 mph) and have been able to hold 250° with very little problem, and have kept my fuel consumption relatively low considering it was mid January. The fuel consumption wasn't as good as summer time, but I can run at 250° for at least 15 hrs. vs. 22+ hrs. in the summer.

I had a problem even last weekend with maintaining temperatures without adding more fuel. The wind ashed over all of my charcoal, so I had to reload. We seem to get gusts of around 40 commonly in the winter. We also get my favorite, the -10 days in the Winter.

I've used my 18.5" WSM in temps as cold as 10*F with no problems "as is" with no jacket or blanket. If you get a Silver Bullet Jacket, I don't see where it will matter if it's a Guru fan or the cup shaped adapter of the I-Que 110. Either way the air is still being blown in under computer control and the blanket or jacket is just helping to hold the heat in longer.

I'm not too worried about the cold, it's the rain, snow, and wind that gets me. I didn't have the best time last weekend with a 25ish mph gusting day. It ran through my charcoal much quicker, messed with my temps, and ashed over what was left.

Yeah... that's why I bought my welding blanket, got tired of buring through charcoal in half the time I normally would get out of it. I did look at the pre-made blankets, but am a bit of a cheap skate and decided $40 was a lot easier to swallow than $100. LOL

The welding blanket does great in all kinds of weather and wind.

I was trying to figured out how to get 3 probes in through the jacket, I figured I'd have to run it through the bottom.

Since I ordered the jacket, I might put it on, check it out, and if the probes are a hassle, I might use this idea.
