Should I wrap my chips in foil?

    I'll be smoking 4 whole chickens tomorrow on my masterbuilt gasser. This will be my first time using this smoker. I have a 8" cast iron skillet to replace the cheap stock pan.

    Just not sure if I should wrap the chips in foil or not?

    Can you get chunks? they don't flare up like chips do. If you have to use chips I would make foil pouches for them with a few holes poked in for air. Chips kind of suck for smokers like that.

    Unfortunately the store only had Hickory chunks, and I wanted apple, so chips it is. Guess I'll be making up some foil pouches.
