I don't know if this is in all of the eastern US states that they service but the ShopRites in NJ and NY have choice center cut rib roasts and grass fed ribeyes for $4.99 from 18-24 December, limit 1 of each......

I spotted the ad while visiting a son in NJ yesterday.  We don't have ShopRites in Central NY but I have to be 6 minutes from one in Albany on Thursday so I'll be picking some up.  Another son in Peekskill just bought an MES 40 and is likely stocking up too.

According to their website they have stores in NY, NJ, CT, DE, MD and PA.

Happy hunting!

Out here on the west coast, Ralph's is doing Choice bone-in rib eye roasts for $4.88/lb. I picked up one a 5.94 lb.

The wife doesn't care much for prime rib / ribeye due to fat content, and generally doesn't like steaks at the same medium rare temps I like them...

So I decided I'm probably not going to do it as a roast. But for that price, I came up with this!

One nice ribeye, and two gigantic cowboy ribeyes. They're now vacuum sealed and in the freezer, waiting on further dispensation ;-)

Bought another from Ralph's. This one was ~11 lbs.

I went with a bone-in again, still to make steaks, even though boneless was only an extra dollar per lb. I'm actually going to cut away a slab of beef back ribs off this roast (looks like about a 4-bone or maybe 5-bone roast) with a fair amount of meat left on the bones, for smoking. Then I'll cut a bunch of nice 1.5" steaks from the remainder.

I see good eatin' in my future!

I hope you enjoy them, they sure look good.

I bought 4 rib roasts (they were out of ribeyes) and boned them with the intent of roasting the ribs with some onions, carrots, garlic and celery to make a good stock for gravy base or au jus for the roasts.  The bones were really meaty so they got vacuum packed for the smoker and 3 pounds of chuck went into the gravy base.

Three roasts are in the freezer with three containers of gravy base.  One roast is in my little smoker with a 7 pound shank end of a good ham for dinner.  Two loaves of artisan style rye are in the oven....
