I finally got a chance to season my smokers that I built about a month ago.  They have been going for about eight hours and no issues yet.  These things are very easy to build and very little has to be done in order to keep the temps constant.  I need to raise my baskets a few inches but that is an easy fix.  I also wasn't impressed with all of the little pieces in the lump charcoal I picked up from SAMS club.  That being said I have had to shake the basket on both smokers once and adjust the air flow a couple of time but this is more of fine tuning the smoker the first couple times you use it in my opinion.  I had fun making that video on my pulled pork a few weeks ago I decided to document my seasoning with another video.  I will post it as soon as it is up on Youtube.  Hope it helps someone with questions on seasoning the smoker in the future.

18 Hours on half a basket of charcoal now that is efficient.

there is no love to be found here anymore wtf? You spend the time making a video and not one reply from anyone on here? thats bs man!! sorry man

No biggie I am just a bored science teacher off for the summer playing with my camera.  I have fun making these videos.

Personally I think its pretty freakin cool for someone to make a video and post it up here. Myself I would probably never make a video unless I was drinking and then you all would probably rather I didnt make it or post it. Under normal conditions I am way to shy to even try something like this.

Hats off to ya ECTO1,

Very Nice Job. Very good detail and explanation.     BTW. It sure looks hot there. Sometimes I forget that there are a ton of folks looking and reading here that are just starting out, and I think alot of us forget to include the basic stuff. Sure glad you are a science teacher and not an english teacher, LOL since my spelling and grammar leaves a little to be desired.

Thanks I plan more my youtube channel is ectorgarcia if anyone want to see them when they come out I am filming my spare ribs today.  This is all just to get ready for the school year and that I hate summer because I am stuck at home taking care of the kids all day and if I don't do this I may go crazy.

Thanks for creating and posting this...I'll definitely refer back to it when I get ready to fire up my first UDS maybe this weekend!

awesome vid.   since I am just building my UDS right now..this vid is SO valuable.. I was wondering how you season it, and now I know.

Say...you don't want to make me one of those sweet fire baskets do ya?  I'd pay ya!

Thats the one Item I need yet.  I can't find expanded metal freakin' anywhere.
