that should work...just make sure you clean any and all grease off the mounting surface and use a really good quality high temp food safe adhesive
 
I use the red RTV Silicone, I Pam the chamber where the door will meet, put the RTV on the underside CLEANED portion of the lid, close and let dry. made a perfect seal and has been holding since.
 
No , to keep it from sticking to the other side of the door...SaranWrap works too .
