While in Sam's today purchasing some meat and other supplies, I saw a pile of pork trimmings on the cutting board where they had been trimming pork loins. I ask the man what they did with them, and he said, we just throw them in a barrel. I ask if there was any way I could take them. He kind of looked at me funny and ask how much I wanted and I said "all of it". He just packaged it up and wrote "do not charge" across the pkg and off I went. About 10 lbs of pork trimmings to add to sausage!!

next time.........ask him how often they do that.......and save it for you

I think that would be pushing it for them and me also since it is a 200 mile round trip to Sam's. Hardly worth it.

crap goat......that pushes the cost of the meat up..............200 miles round trip.............i would have to buy supplies for the whole year.......kinda like when you run a line shack........stuck there for the whole winter..........

Way to go, goat. The sad thing is that (throwing away trimmings) happens alot. Most markets today get their sausage and ground beef from a central processor. Most of these shops don't have a grinder-those that do will at least try to offer a "house" sausage.

That is a nice haul goat!

It takes 2 1/2 hours for me to get to a Sam's....I stock up while there or make do with what I have.
