Looks like the same basic concept as the CGSP, though 16" instead of 20" deep. In addition, the Brinkmann firebox is noticeably thinner gauge metal than that of the CharGriller... and it's a 2-piece firebox! The CharBroil offset they carried last year at that price was a better deal.

On an additional note, many of the newer gas & coal grills being displayed are of seemingly poor quality. Very thin steel, very flimsy. My wife has indicated that perhaps replacing our red Weber gas unit from 8 years ago would be desirable. Based on what I'm seeing, that ain't gonna happen. The Weber is built like a tank, and these new units don't begin to compare.

My Brinkmann SNP (Smoke N Pit) has 18" x 38" grates. The firebox for mine was a split (bolt together), that's normal.

16" seems pretty small. Wife picked mine up a wallyworld late last summer on a manager's special for $100.00.

Oh, one thing...I don't buy cooking stuff at HD/Lowe's type places...they will whip the money otta ya! Prices don't even compare to other's.

I dunno, it might have been 18". It was up on a shelf so I didn't measure it... it was clearly narrower than the CGSP.

I use it ALL THE TIME. I smoke only every few weekends or so**, but the gas grill is on at least 2-3 times a week. Even in wintertime. It's far more convenient than charcoal; you can use it in the rain and snow. The Weber hasn't rusted at all, though I do take care to keep it in the garage when not using it. The cast-iron grates are still in great condition. I have, however, burned through two sets of "flavor bars" and one igniter.

That said, every once in awhile I'll fire a steak or some chicken directly over coals because it is more delicious.

**That seems to be increasing. The past couple of smokes have gotten my wife hooked, and she's now planning all kinds of stuff for me to cook. lol

That's great when your other half enjoys it as well! Mine likes it, but, it just doesn't agree with her guts much anymore. Next thing, she'll probably be prepping your spares St. Louis Style for you, rub & all! LOL!!!
