Sausage Grits

1 pound sausage

3 cups hot cooked grits

21/2 cups shredded cheese

3 Tablespoons butter

3 eggs, beaten

11/2 cups milk

Cook sausage and drain. Spoon sausage into lightly greased 9x13 baking dish.

Combine hot grits, cheese, and butter. Stir until cheese and butter melt.

Combine eggs and milk; stir into grits. Pour over sausage. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
 
Oh my God, that sounds delicious. I might have that for dinner tonight!

Just showed it to my wife and we are having it for dinner!

My wife did a dish like that at the SELA gathering. She calls em dirty grits. She puts onion peppers and celery in hers and usually some smoked leftover butt.
 
We make smaller ones into individual ramekins - These are very good. Might be a good Thanksgiving morning starter. Thanks for posting - need to do these again

hey bear... been in the south for 25 yrs and had them anyway they come and i'll still woulsd eat a magazine called grit..... i grew up on cream of wheat.... Used to make milk shakes fr breakfast when i was a kid.... good
