That salmon looks really good .  I saw Jeffs newsletter on it and wondered what it would taste like with a rub on it.  Did you use Jeffs rub?  We might try this at the 10-18 get together.

I checked out your FB page Brian and I want to thank you for all you do for Vets and homeless people.  We need more people like you in the world.  If you ever have something going on in the Lansing area let me know and I will help if I can.

Stan-

Yes I used Jeff's rub. Its a nice neutral rub that is not overpowering and it also makes a good base if you want to experiment and modify it.

My best friend is a DAV (retired 23 years Army) and lives in Lansing. We may be doing something in the area next year for soldiers retuning in Grand Ledge.

Hate to ask for money, but if you want to help I am trying to raise funds for our war chest for cooks. It really doesn't take a whole lot to put one on but funding is always an issue. There is info on my page on how to help

thanks!!!

ButtBurner,  I would love to see you surpass your goal and am glad I could help.  Good on you!!!

I don’t mind to give to a good cause that puts 100% of your donation to the cause verses a cause that 10-20% goes to the cause and 80-90% goes to administration.

I think what you are doing is great and I would like to challenge every SMF member who can to contribute too.     So if any

members can please do and lets help out ButtBurner to feed the Vets some BBQ.  Every little bit helps.

Now I need to make some of Jeffs  rub.

Stan-

You know you bring up a real good point that I have failed to mention in any of my posts or sites.

You are correct, 100% goes to the cause. And I pay for the wood, rubs (some are donated) and any other miscellaneous items (money for t shirts for my crew, I just had business cards and door magnets made, foil pans, other consumables) My crew and I crew pay for all of that.

My wife is a paralegal and she is working with some lawyers she knows to get us the 501c but we do not have it yet, so the contributions are not tax deductible at this point, I wanted to bring that up too. I would rather avoid that and all the red tape that goes with it, but if this takes off Im sure it would be the best thing to do.
