Okay, I have a question, Looking to build a rotisserie smoker, My question I have is, the ferris wheel for the shelves, I am trying to find some pictures, even drawings on how these are assembled.

     Thanks in advanced.

Lets start with how big is this smoker going to be? How much meat is going to be on the rotisserie in LBS?

I see you have been a member for a long time but haven't dropped in at roll call. When you get a chance will you drop in roll call so everyone can give you a proper SMF welcome?

    Happy smoken.

    David,

I am looking at a 3' deep x 4' length, the height will depend on the rotisserie in the smoker. Maybe have 4-5 shelves and it could hold 120# to maybe 15# but that might be a stretch. I will go to roll call and sign in though. This project is for my personal use for know. I am just finishing a gravity smoker that ended up being bigger than planned. If I get a chance I will dig the pictures out and post them.

If you want to go with a simple round wheel system, your 3' depth will also effect the size of your rotisserie. If you go with a more complex oblong system your limitation would be height. I think for simplicities sake the round works the best and it keeps the meat closer to the heat. Many of the tall units have IR heaters higher up to even out the heat.

Without drawing it out a simple wheel rotisserie with a 3' depth and height you could probably get 4 shelves on a 2''-6" wheel. That would still leave room for the shelf to swing and the for the meat. To clear the other shelves, sides and top as they rotate.
