Instead of hijacking another thread I decided to post my own. I am also trying to "seal up" my Chargriller SP. I am not as concerned about the front and back as I dont seem to loose as much heat there.
I am concerned about the ends and plan on figuring out another way of getting a better seal there, but I have knocked out the two slots for the rotisserie for Pheasants we do in the winter.

Right now I have balled up flat pieces of foil that I have jammed into these slots and believe it's working fairly well. Does anyone have any recommendations or has any one hurdled this problem yet?

Thanks for reading and any advise.

not sure how big your holes are but 2 washers larger than the hole-small inner hole for the small bolt & nut to thread on?-get my drift?

They are about 2.5" high by 1" wide. Rounded at top and come down to lid opening (upside down U) so I dont think the washers would work as the bottom has to be straight to align with the bottom of the lid.

But smaller washers would close off like 3/4 of the hole and I could try and deal with the remainder.

How bout a "mending plate"? just a hunk of sheet and some threaded holes in the smoker body. Easily removable for when ya got the rotiss going.

You may have something there!!!! I could install two plates like 3"X2" on the INSIDE of the lid. Keep them "swung down" when not in use and up when usin the Rotiss.

Transformer Char-Griller!!! MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.
