Morning, all!  Been smoking for about 6 years now.  Started out the easy way with a Bradley smoker and I liked that pretty well as it was about as set it and forget it as it could get.  Smoked just about everything I could in it from boston butts, brisket, ribs, chicken, fish, cheese, ABT's, meatloaf, etc.  I like the versatility it offers with regards to cold smoking.  However, I yearned to smoke things the old-fashioned way with charcoal and wood.  I would do some smoking in my charcoal grill and it turned out pretty good.  Bought a cheap off-set smoker and made some modifications to it to make it a little more manageable and haven't looked back.

I live in a part of the country where good BBQ is hard to find which is why I do it myself.  I've developed a pretty good following amongst friends, family and neighbors and am now in the exploratory stages of opening a smoking/grilling store.  I would also love to do a little competition but trying to find them up here is difficult.  If anyone knows of anything up here in the Michigan area, that would be great to know.  I really enjoy finding my own wood, cutting it, etc. and feel pretty fortunate to be living in an area that is known for its orchards (apple, peach, pear, etc) and can usually get my hands on just about any type of wood.  I really like experimenting with different type of woods.  I also enjoy making my own rubs and sauces.

I hope to learn a lot and help as much as I can as well.
