Thank you, thank you very much, smokinstevo27!  I great appreciate the comment!

Those look pretty darn good from here. Good Job.
Thanks very much for the comment, bmudd14474!

WOW Looks great making me want to do some ribs too. Really like the fatty too , I could take a slice of that too. Great job and keep the q-views coming
Thanks, whitepony99!  That's why I like Q views so much: when you see one it makes you really want to cook whatever it is you're looking at!

That fatty is delicious!  I used a new cheese mixture and it really improved the taste.

Thanks again for the comment!

Excellent point, tigerregis!

Taking offense where clearly none was intended is pc at it's goofiest.

With innumerable innocent references to japs and fatties around here you would think people would be able to differentiate between an innocuous use of a word and a put down used to belittle the developmentally disabled.

wntrlnd-Great looking ribs! Did they bend like that before you put them in the foil or after.  I don't foil my ribs and when they bend like that-they're done.

Thanks, Dutch!

This is only my 3rd attempt at ribs.  The first time I made ribs, I didn't foil.  I thought they were great!  Then I tried the 3-2-1 method and I really liked how it improved (to my taste) the texture of the meat.

That bend picture was after three hours in foil.  When I checked them after just two hours in the foil they were no where near done.   There was also very little drawback on the bones.

Usually two hours in foil is sufficient, but I had an extended interval with too-low temps right after I foiled the ribs.  Extending the foil time to three hours made up for the lower temps.

Much better drawback, and when I grabbed onto them after three hours and did the bend test, I knew they were about ready.  I just took them out of the foil and firmed them up a little before taking them out of the smoker.

The one that I got a charge out of was:

When I was a kid in Little League (1950s), we called a "foul tip" "A Little Nipper".

Then when my brother & I coached Connie Mack Baseball (70s, 80s, and 90s), the expression "Little Nipper" was NO MORE!

No offense was ever intended!

Bearcarver, that is a sad remembrance. Just think "His master's voice" will never hear Nipper woof his way into the future.
You're talking about the RCA Dog?

The Nipper that was in question was the nickname (Nips), in the days after WW2, for Japanese people.

The foul tip was no longer called a "little nipper" because it was not politically correct.

It had been only meant to say the bat "nipped" the ball---Nothing else.

We had to instruct kids to call it a "Foul Tip".

Those are some seriously good looking CHRONOLOGICALLY CHALLENGED ribs!

Heh-heh.... nothing like overdoing the P.C. to point out how rediculous it can get sometimes.

OK I guess this is not going to fade away.

We have an autistic child here. I didn't want him to walk by and see this header over my shoulder.

It would cause him to have a small problem.

I am kind of protective  with him.

 So I sent this PM.

Do you think you could take the word "retard" out of your post title.

Folks (like us) that have disabled children and family find it offensive.

 Thanks

  Craig

I got this reply.

you do understand the word is being used in a temporal sense, though, right?

i would understand your objection if i had used the word perjoratively.

do you get upset when commercials claim that mouthwash or toothpaste  retards the growth of plaque?

it seems a little goofy to me, but in deference to your feelings i will change it.

He then changed it to "temporally challenged" which means the same thing.

And continues to be a smartass about it.

The kid is very smart..

So rather than do the right thing,he proves to me that he is nothing more than a bigot.

And for the most part if people think it's humorus or cute to disparage disabled kids

I feel sorry for them.

At the risk of getting in the middle here, I'll add my two cents.

I very often say something to be funny, not knowing that it could hurt someone. Having it pointed out to me, though this should be done, can put me on the defensive, even though it really shouldn't.

I can understand both sides of this problem. Hopefully we can all drop back & punt.

The Title of this thread looks OK to me right now, and I would hope everything is cool with you two guys, because both of you are in my "favorite members" list!

Thanks,

Bear

Reminds me of when I ran an offset Diddy press years ago.

It had automatic adjustments for each unit and they were labeled "Retard" and "Advance"

Words can be taken out of context.

A word like F**K are a  "no no" so everyone tries and get around this by saying FREAK'N now the new "no no word" is FREAK'N.

On Battlestar Galactica they got around it by saying FRAK.

Now if my kids say "What the FRAK" at school they will be in some serious Frack'n sh*t

I respect both parties and If I ever say something that may upset one individual out of thousands on this forum, I would like to be made aware.

SMOKE SOME MEAT!!, now when I said that years ago I got slapped silly...sorry couldn't resist.

Go back and read my post fellas.

I asked to have it taken out of the post header.

It's not about being PC.

It's about being a respectful human.

But he kept up with the smartass instead.

If someone sent me a PM and said ..hey man you posted this and it hits a delicate area for me..I would fix it right away.

Not change it to the same shit worded differently.

No offense but I really saw nothing wrong with it but see how it could be taken out of context. If you look at the definition of retard in the dictionary it makes no reference to any mental disability. It says

To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.

To be delayed

That is the definition of it, I do not see why this topic has go on as long as it has. The title has been changed now lets all move on.
