Been throwing around the idea of purchasing a rib rack and using it for competition cooking. Has anybody had any expierience with this? Good expierience with a rib rack in general?

Ive tried a rib rack and it only gained me space in the smoker.

My main concern was space saving but did it effect the way it cooked or looked? Obviously I couldn't foil the way unusually do.....I guess if they were wrapped up good and tight I wouldn't have to worry about anything running out. I know when I get my 4 categories on there she's packed in pretty tight.

I use a rib rack only when foiling the ribs. It keeps the bark from coming off, and up out of the liquid. As far as the actual smoking time, they come out much more even when cooked flat.

I only use racks for big cooks. If you are competing I would just cook as many as you can comfortably in your cooker. There have been times where I have only cooked 2 racks for KCBS and done well.
