Congrats Joel - I have dealt with enough health inspectors to know I never want to deal with another one the rest of my life

Joel... "YOU DaMAN" you'll be quitting your day job soon... Great looking build.. now stop by Joe's house and pick him up and y'all pull that thing to the S. FL. Gathering.. lol...

Congrats on the Permit!  Looks great.  I love this build.  Now that you have a roof, and running water, all you need is a place to sleep and I can move in.!

Speaking of the health inspector, I guess she is no engineer.  She wants the sinks in "front" so the public could see them.  That would put them either on the tongue of the trailer (impractical/inaccesible) or right in front of the opening of the smoker, also impractical, difficult to access the smoker and likely to lead to contamination from any drippings falling from the racks onto the sink.  I think your plan was spot on.  People want to see the pit, not the sink.

Not to mention we still have to build in our wood storage, grills, fryers, propane tanks and manifold Mike.

That is one nice set up !!! Congrads on the permit !!!!

Thanks my friend!

I lost a lot of sleep over this one Gary, but it all worked out. Thumbs Up

Not anytime soon Keith, but progress is still progress. Joe is building his own badass smoker. I wish I could make the S. Fl gathering but work and my part time weekend jobs are killing me deep into November at this point.

that is a awesome looking pit!!!!!! yall did a great job of function and form .
i to think the sinks on the rear of the smoker are in the right place
and the hotwater on demand is very cool

Joel.. Hows the water heater working....do you get hot water pretty quick ? I mean you don't have to run a gallon or 2 before it gets hot do ya ? .. I know 20 gallons doesn't last very long

Works great. The hot water is as close to instantaneous as I could hope for, probably 2 - 3 seconds. It doesn't take very long at all.

i was trying to find that calculator and came across Feldon's BBQ Pit Builder Calculator. Is that the one that you were referring to?

One burner per grill? and building six burners? are you planning on six grills? or did I miss something on an earlier part of the build that they're intended for?

That's the one.

Two burners per grill was the original plan and we tried using one. The 5th was going to be a log lighter/gas assist. The 6th would be a spare. We have talked about it a lot, but done very little. Free time is a bit of an issue for me right now.

far cry from the time I first saw it-congrats on the progress buddy, you have made a great thing happen. Good luck Joel.

You just wait Bob. We aren't done yet. But we are tired of working on it. lol

Oh how these pics told a most glorios story. I am now inspired to take welding classes.

Do so. It is a skill that you will always find a use for.

Can't belive she didn't make you pull the trailer in the other way so they could see the sinks.

Can't wait to see what she has in store for us this year. lol

I wanted to thank you for posting this.  It was HUGE for me to find this last year and sparked many of my ideas for my build.  I am still working on mine and check in often to see if you did anything different or had any better ideas.   Thanks again.

You are welcome Jack. Glad it was helpful.

Joel, This was an awesome build. I like the idea of on-board water and sinks.  I've talked to my son that has all the welding toys and the plan is to widen the trailer that the Lang sits on and add on-board water and sinks as well. Just as soon as I can up with the extra bucks. . . hmmm . . .maybe have Ma Dutch switch over to full time? ? ? . . Bwaahaahaa. . . .

Could you get me some detailed pixs of how your awning is set up?  That's another thing that we're talking of adding to the mix.

Thanks!

The bar sinks are nice and compact Dutch. They really work well for this application.

I will take a look and see if I have any better pics of the awning.

Sorry it took a couple months Dutch, but we had our first event where we had to be inspected by the health department. We generally don't use the canopy, unless we are being inspected by the health department because it traps so much heat under the canopy. As a fat northern plains transplant in the south, I don't like heat. Hopefully this will help. Let me know if you have any questions.
