I have lost my first few pics, but this is a RF smoker I hae been working on this summer and plan to finish this winter, Started with a 330 gallon tank, a friend gave me some 1/4 plate that I have started this rib/burn box out of.

I have it tacked on the tank and now my springs on the trailer are too soft. I knew this thing was gonna be heavy considering that 1/4 inch plate weighs 320 pounds per sheet and I have used 2 full sheets, not coulting the angle and expanded metal on the racks.

The axle is to far foward so when I change the springs I am going to move it back. The trailer was a freebie so I will make it work somehow. Have any of you ever put a charcoal tray above your RF plate to cook steaks and burgers or any of that other stuff we grill? Thats what I am planning on doing if I have room in the tank.

I can bring temps up as high as I need, I've even toasted garlic bread in mine.

No need for the charcoal tray

Looking good. Where did you source your 1/4in plate? I'm to the east of you in Athens. A few places I checked wanted a arm and a leg.

Well I cant really share where  I got it, lets just say a good friend really helped me out. I will be on the look out for you though. Have you checked any of the scrap yards?

How much plate are you thinking that you need? There is a guy on Ripley road that has some stuff not sure of the 1/4" but he has alot of useful stuff laying around that you might use. Cant think of his name but just look for the big red barn, all the stuff behind it is for sale.

Thanks. I have not tried scrapyards yet. I was going to call around today. I figure that I am going to need somewhere around a sheet. I have a 100 gal tank so the firebox should not have to be that large. I will have to recalculate the size of it. I will have to check with the guy on ripely road
