I am working on my build now and have a pretty good start.
I have a lot of pics but don't know if i should post them all at once or spread them out in the next few days?
so I will start by telling you this will be a reverse flow build close to a Lang style with a warmer/smoker.
I searched for a few months and called the local propane dealer at least once a week to get a 250 gal propane tank. It finaly paid off, I think they got tired of me calling so they found me one

(persistence pays off)

I also got a smaller 24" X 46" tank and will be using it for the warmer/smoker there will be a dampner between the firebox and the 250 gal tank. There will also be a dampner between the firebox and the vertical warmer/smoker that way for the smaller family cooks I can just use the vertical tank. It will have slide out grates and I will be able to do whole hog and slide the grate out for placement on a table for show and pulling.
I am also building a trailer from scratch, ( did I tell I like to build things?)
I plan on setting it up for Catering/Vending and hope to add a few burners and 4 sinks I hope.

Here are the tanks

Getting busy with the friction saw, this is the way to go IMO I can use a plasma torch and have access to one and have used it on this build, but with this saw all you have to do is a light pass with a grinder to remove the sharp edge and your done. I got this one at work but I don't think rent on these are to bad for a day.

Starter cuts and ready for the henges

Cutting out the firebox opening for the 250 gal tank, I filled it with water and soap the night before.

That is awesome clinch!
If you wanna space pics out over a few days that is fine but I'm itching right now to see more.
Those friction saw shots are great, put a smile on my face.
She is going to be one hell of a smoker!

That is looking good so far....waiting to see her in action!!

Here's my question, the pic with the 2 women in it, are they thinking "this is awesome, can't wait for some good Q" or is it more like "now what in the hell is he doing"...in my case it would most definately be the later. Anyway, awesome pic's, can't wait to see more. Anytime you can bust out big saws and 4-wheelers has to be a good day.

Thanks all!
Here is a few shots of the tanks after I tacked on the hinges and finished cutting out the doors. the middle section also lifts up for total access for the slide out grates.

Close up of the hinges, they are just tacked on at this point and have room for the door covers to be slid under and welded on later.

Funny question

It's kinda both, Im always working on something so they are use to it. Guess they just wanted to see all that water splash? notice they keeped there distance, did I mention how bad it stunk?

Looks great keep the pics coming

Here is the firebox welded up its sitting on the trailer that is partialy finished.

here is a shot of my 250 gal tank with the door covers welded on

a pic of my little helper!

Fire grate finished.

shot of it inside.

Trailer tongue welded on.

dampner covers welded on (this will be between the firebox and 250 gal tank) I can close it off for smaller cooks in the vertical chamber.

250 Gal tank with the 6" stack hole cut out.

Got some more done :D
Worked on my firebox some, got all the intake holes drilled and the slide covers. Im going to add a few on the door also, these will be lower.

Welded on my stands for the 250 gal tank to sit on.

Now this was fun  I had to come up with a way to get the tank on the stands. I put the 4 wheeler to use again, pulled it up to the trailer rolled the tank over on the trailer side and threw a log under where it goes. rolled it up on the log and pulled it over the first set of stands.

Now I used another log that was about the same hight off the ground as the stands and pulled it across the other set of stands.

And here is a pic of one of my other helpers.
she loved pulling that tank up there and done a great job! Mom was not even going to try so she was elected :D

setting up there

up off the ground and welded on!

I think you qualify for the logs and levers construction award!!! Congrats on a good lookin build and w/o any "heavy" equip.

Lookin forward to the finish and the frist smoke!

CHEERS!!

Great looking fabrication.. I see a lot of the trades have contributed to this build. LOL some red iron, some sprinkler pipe..hole hawg, cut off saw. Aint it great working commercial?
