So about a week ago a good friend of mine stopped by as I was smoking some baby back ribs for a party I was going to. He was very

interested in what I was doing and how I knew what to do. Well that got me wondering about how other people do it.

I guess the best place to start is with what I do.

Even though I'm new to this board I have been smoking meat and BBQing for many years. Off my back deck I have a 48" Lang stick

smoker, a Cajun Injection dual door electric smoker and a Webber 36" grill. Now with all of these different smokers I need to keep log

books of all of my different sessions. I think I have about 20 three ring binders full of information that must go back 15 years or so.

I keep track of time/temp, meat, seasonings, results and any odd factors like outside temp, wind, rain etc. And different smokers as I

have had several others in the past. Recently I have moved to the digital age and have been slowly changing over to a spread sheet

system so I can search for similar situations that I have come across in the past.

Now what do the rest of you do something similar or do you have a completely different method. I just think if you can keep track of

these things your chance of a great BBQ go up exponentially.

I take all the notes, like you take. Then I assemble them all with pictures (Qview), and post the whole thing on this Forum.

Then whenever I want to do the same thing again, I can just go to SMF, and look up how I did it before.

Meanwhile all of the SMF members can use it too. Some of them are below, in my signature.

Thank you those are very good. I'm going to look those over and see if I want to modify my current system.
