I have a food saver unit and the results with it are marginal at best with 50% of the bags eventually leaking in a few weeks.  The rolls of bags seem horribly high priced as well.

Is there a reasonably priced unit available that gives good results and where is the best place to by the bags/rolls.

Also, what size pre-formed bags are folks using or are most buying the rolls and making bags   (what size).

Thanks.

Check out vacuumsealersunlimited.com, Lisa is a sponsor here and her bags work great and are very reasonable. She also offers a discount to SMF members. After purchasing from her I will not buy the food saver bags again.

I too had a problem with FS bags and since I've switched to VSU bags not one single problem. They are the BEST and even with shipping they cost less than FS bags. VSU FTW!!!

Me Too!

For the extra couple pennies per bag, I get the premium bags

Also, I always double seal the end.  Just a habit I guess.

All you need is a small crease and the bag will lose vacuum

I buy quart and gallon bags

You can cut then in half if necessary

I also have a rolls for longer items like ribs or fish

Does the 130 unit have the port to hook a hose so you can vac the jars and other stuff?

Thanks everyone ... I ordered the 130 unit a few minutes ago, applied the discount code and got some bags .... now need to get the smoker hot!
